BIOGRAPHY

Tegan Forbes is and artist/educator. In January 2010 she moved to New York to advance her practice of outdoor collaborative projects and is currently working with a team of artists and inner city youth designing and painting murals in New York's urban areas.

Forbes completed her Master of Fine Art in March, 2007, at Concordia University in Montreal, in conjunction with designing and teaching a print media class that focused on interventional practices and works in public space. During the winter of 2008, Forbes taught at the Alberta College of Art and Design in the Print Media Department.

Complimenting her academic art practices, Forbes has held the professional position of Digital Print Consultant within Concordia University’s Print Media Lab, co-curated the 2007 MFA Exhibition in Montreal for 56 artists and was invited two years in a row to speak in Toronto at Copy Camp, a national conference which addressed concerns of intellectual property rights and artistic license. During 2002 Forbes worked in the Print Media Department at the Banff Centre for Visual and Performing Arts.

Forbes has participated collaboratively in Vancouver at the Contemporary Art Gallery, in Montreal at Atelier Circulaire, in Germany at the Bauhaus University and at Youth Write 2007 and 2008, both hosted by the Writers Guild of Alberta. Forbes was invited by Studio XX to present her research at Montreal’s HTMLles 8 Cyber-Arts Biennial in the fall of 2007 and was a participant in Winnipeg’s Art City Professional Artist Series 2008.

Upcoming Highlights:
This summer Forbes is excited to be a returning artist in resident at Ink Pulse, the youth camp hosted by the Writers Guild of Alberta as well as one of the 2011 Resident Artists at The Lab at the Greater Victoria Art Gallery in BC Canada. She is currently an artist in residence at The Dome Project on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and volunteering at New York’s Creative Arts Workshops for Kids.
