Give
Twenty-Five photographic prints of digitally manipulated phones with community collaboration
6”x4” each

Over a two week period in the winter of 2006 in Vancouver, Canada, I asked 25 strangers if they wanted to “make some art.” I asked them to write their name and phone number on print of their choice; in exchange, I gave the stranger my name and phone number on a duplicate of the print they had chosen.

I am still very interested in using snap-shot photography and intervention methods of give/take integrated with community participation…The funny thing about the "Give" project is that the last time I exhibited it during the vernissage people were calling the phone numbers on the wall and talking to each other. It was really surprising to see how these random contacts were made and how both parities were linked by the gesture of my art project. This is a project that will keep on living and perhaps expanding
